G-tube is a surgically placed feeding tube into the stomach. I should have been more clear on this. Also, it's only required if 1) the pt. can't eat AND 2) it's long term care AND 3) the body can actually take the tube and surgery. (But many clinicians will deny the last too frequently.)

I am a respiratory therapist. A BiPAP machine (a mask that offers positive pressure and breathing support) was one of the best inventions over the past 30 years. We used to get people coming in respiratory distress and the family would have to make a decision.on the spot whether to place on.a vent or let them go. BiPAP also has saved many people from the vent. Many of them need it for a short period of time and are then able to be without it.

I never thought of the nutrition withholding as murder, but now that I read this, it gives me a lot to reflect on
